Canada 150 - Believe & Belong - Sikh Canadians

ਮੈਂ ਹੂੰ ਪਰਮ ਪੁਰੁਖ ਕੋ ਦਾਸਾ, ਦੇਖਣ ਆਯੋ ਜਗਤ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ
Main hoon param purakh ko dasa dekhan aayo jagat tamasha
I am a servant of the Supreme Being; and have come to behold the wonderful drama of life.
- Guru Gobind Singh Ji (10th Sikh Guru)

Canadian Sikhs play a tremendous role in shaping diversity and inclusion in Canada. We are an integral part of the Canadian mosaic and will proudly join millions of Canadians across Canada in celebration of our Nation’s 150th birthday!

As part of our Believe & Belong vision, the Sikh Society of Calgary welcomes you and your family to come celebrate Canada 150 with us. There is something for everyone! We will have fun attractions for kids, high energy performances, an expert panel of speakers and games for families! To top it all off, we will also have complimentary and mouth-wateringly delicious Indian cuisine for you to enjoy!

Tegh Singh & Rusveer Kaur

California native Tegh Singh joined the US Army at age 18 and after returning from two tours to Iraq and Afghanistan, married Rusveer Kaur. Rusveer was raised in an Amritdhari Sikh home fraught with abuse and neglect and left home at the age of 17 and became a baptized Christian. Neither could have predicted the challenges ahead in their transformative journey into Sikhi, crossing border and cultures.
